For Better Or For Worse

But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.” Matthew 5:32

I feel like I think about marriage a lot. It is something that many typical Americans experience or at least hope to someday experience, although there are indeed some who denounce it as institutionalized oppression by the patriarchy. The first few times I read this passage in Matthew, I nodded to myself and figured that it was pretty reasonable. Marital unfaithfulness would definitely convince me to get a divorce.

It’s A Long Way Down

What in the world is going on? I’ve been reading about Chris Brown’s recent issues and I am quite perturbed.

It was reported on Sunday that the LAPD were investigating Chris Brown, 19, for an alleged assault on a female. Despite the fact that the representatives of Rihanna, 20, stated that she was doing “well,” she and Chris Brown both withdrew from performing at the Grammy Awards. Now, information is being released that confirms Rihanna as the victim of the attack.

Frankly, the first accounts of this incident shocked me. Really, Chris Brown? Really?! Ugh. I wonder what sort of punishment this will incur other than being dropped from Doublemint and Got Milk.

Pomegranate Love

Pomegranates are my favorite fruit. They’re not my favorite because I eat them all the time, although I do love the taste and might be inclined to eat them more frequently if they were cheaper and easier to eat – I simply love everything about pomegranates. They’re beautiful, unique, healthy, delicious and were rather rare before food companies started pimping them out like no other [I’m usually drawn to things that are unconventional].

The first time I had POM Wonderful juice, I was enraptured. It was so authentic that I could feel the dry aftertaste, although I’ve never been able to convince myself to buy it again because it’s so expensive. Since then I’ve had Pomegranate 7Up, which was tasty but lacking genuine flavors, which is the same that happened with Pomegranate Izze. I was super excited when I got an email from Red Mango announcing that pomegranate was their newest flavor. When I tried it during winter break, though, the flavor was way too subtle for such a high price. I would recommend getting pomegranate seeds as a topping instead if one wants the flavor.

The Squint

February 5, 2009 § 4 Comments

Where do pictures like this come from??

As you can see, all the white people in this picture are squinting their eyes [or even going so far as to pull them back at the corners] while the one Asian person is opening his as wide as he can.

The picture does not become less offensive because there is an Asian person in it. That would be like saying Girls Gone Wild isn’t degrading to women because the women are willing participants; that simply isn’t logical.

Roomie #1 suggested that maybe they had been having a complex discussion about race…I think she was joking. It definitely looks like they were drinking more than anything else; Miley and her bf look pretty trashed. I don’t think that situations like this can even occur without some trace of racism among the group members. It just makes me shake my head…
